Agnes Amoah, Bakery Owner
Agnes Amoah, the owner of Milacon Bakery, started her business in Ghana in 1992. She learned how to bake from her mother as a child in Ghana and was later able to develop her love of baking into a business in Canada, where she lived with her husband for 25 years. Upon returning to Ghana in the early 1990s, Mrs. Amoah opened a bakery training centre with the aim of imparting her knowledge to others, but this first business venture was unfortunately short-lived.

Undeterred by this set-back, Mrs. Amoah decided to open her own bakery. This was not an easy task at the time, because pastries were not popular among Ghanaians at the time. However, the emergence of biscuit factories in the mid -1990s and the import of pastries from abroad increased the public’s appetite for a variety of pastries – a phenomenon which accelerated the growth of Mrs. Amoah’s business. Mrs. Amoah approached ProCredit in early 2010 after receiving a positive recommendation from a satisfied relative. In April 2010, she applied for her first loan at ProCredit SLC for the purpose of expanding her business to meet the growing demand for her products.

“I was told ProCredit could help me, but honestly, the assistance I got from the bank exceeded my expectations,” recalls Mrs. Amoah.

Mrs. Amoah is currently a ProCredit Business Centre client, and she enjoys all the related benefits, such as cash collection, free cheque books and ATM card services, Business Club membership, a dedicated client relationship manager and extended banking hours. As a Business Club member, she also takes advantage of the financial education events that ProCredit offers on a regular basis.

Mrs. Amoah expressed great satisfaction about being part of the ProCredit organisation because of the importance it places on upholding transparency. This closely coincides with her belief in maintaining honesty and integrity in all her business and personal endeavours.

“I have everything I could ever ask for all in one package, and I am sure that I will be banking with ProCredit for a long time.”
